Digestate is the inevitable bi-product of producing biogas via anaerobic digestion. Used correctly it can be a nutrient-rich, organic fertiliser that enriches and replenishes the soil, whilst simultaneously helping society to deal with the ever increasing quantity of organic waste.

This event will look at what different types of digestate are common in the UK, where it is produced and used, when and what permits are needed.

This is an interactive, online event, with plenty of time for networking and group discussions.

10:00 – David Tompkins, Aqua Enviro: An overview of the topic: How much is there and where is it; What are the main benefits; why do digestate markets need to change?

10:30 Amaya Arias-Garcia, SUEZ: Enhancement technologies; how to get the most from digestate; 

11:00 Iorweth (Yog) Watkins, Westcountry Rivers Trust: What do farmers want from digestate; what then leeches out from digestate through the fields and into the rivers; how can building an AD plant impact the local farming economy and environment 

11:30 Alan Jones, EA: Agronomy and digestate applications for post harvest applications and the impact of The Farming Rules on contractors and land users; Lagoon storage under ssafo and the issue of covering lagoons to reduce ammonia

Each speaker will present for 20-25 minutes, then answer questions form the room.

12:00 – Networking session, for delegates to formulate questions for the panel

12:30 Panel of all 4 speakers, answering questions from the room.

13:00 Final remarks, Greville Southgate, ADBA 

We will be using the REMO platform, as used for the Ask ADBA sessions and the WBA World Biogas eFestival. This is web-based, so needs no software or downloads.
